Road Traffic Incidents on Wednesday 28th January 2026 |
||
|
Dear residents of Alresford and the surrounding area,
I would like to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to you and the wider community for your support and understanding during the incident on Wednesday evening in Alresford.
As many of you will be aware, several emergency services — including Fire and Rescue, the Ambulance Service, and Police — attended the main crossroads on West Street. Due to the number of resources required and the nature of the incident, the main road was closed and diversions were put in place. As one of the officers on scene, I fully appreciate that this caused complications, confusion, and frustration at times, particularly when differing information was being shared.
Our priority in situations like this is always to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. While other emergency services provide essential treatment, the Police play a key role in creating the safe space they need to work, which can unfortunately mean disrupting the normal flow of daily life for residents such as yourselves.
Once again, thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding.
If you have any information, or if you hold CCTV or dash‑cam footage that may assist, please contact 101 and quote reference 44260048545.
During the incident, many of you shared positive and supportive comments, which were greatly appreciated. Some residents also took the opportunity to ask general questions, and I regret that I was not able to give these the time they deserved in the moment.
With that in mind, I would like to offer the opportunity for you to ask any questions or raise any queries you may have. You can do so by using the “reply” option to this message, and I will respond over the weekend.
Thank you in advance.
